The Kirby Library is pleased to welcome back Master Gardeners Jean Kolojejchick and Roseann Nardone to present “Expressing Your Personality in the Garden.” Get ready for spring and summer planting by learning how your garden can reflect your personality with the use of structures, statuary, plants and containers to create your own unique design. The Mt. Top Diabetes Support Group will be held on Thursday, April 24 from 7-9 p. m. in St. Jude’s cafeteria. Topic for this meeting is: “Herbals & Alternatives”. Wright Twp. Vol. Fire Dept. will hold its Annual Open House and Health Fair on Saturday, April 26 from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. The event will feature a miniature smoke house fire safety trailer, search and rescue dogs, local Emergency Management and much more. The Health fair is coordinated with Geisinger Heart Hospital.

The Dorrance Township Cleanup is on Saturday, May 3 from 7am until 2 pm. The clean up will be limited to residents only and proof of residency will be required. Each carload will be charged $15. Small pickup trucks and pull behind trailer loads will be charged $20 each. Trucks over 3/4 ton will be charged $50. Batteries will be charged $3 each and all white appliances $10 each. All freon must be removed from refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers or they will not be accepted. Tires will be accepted at the following charges: $2 each for 13”, 14”, and 15” tires, no rims; $5 for 16” tires no rims; $5 for truck tires, no rims, no tractor trailer tires will be accepted; note: tires may be disposed of free at Butler Twp. in the fall. Items not allowed are electronic devices, asbestos, shingles, wood, paint cans, propane tanks, household garbage or any hazardous materials. The fire company will be available to assist residents who are in need of a truck. A reasonable donation is requested. To arrange for a truck, call the township garage at 868-5774 and leave your name, phone, and address prior to Friday, April 25.
Turn in your unused or expired or expired medication for safe disposal at the Wright Twp. Police Dept., 321 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountaintop on Saturday, April 26 from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. Any over the counter, controlled substance or prescription drugs can be submitted. Tablets, capsules, ointments, creams and liquids will be accepted in its packaging. No need to take medicines out of the original package or container. This event is anonymous and no questions are to be asked by law enforcement personnel to anyone submitting medications. Sharpies and syringes will not be accepted die to safety reasons.
St. James Lutheran Church, Hobbie, will hold a Family Style Roast Beef Dinner on Sat., April 26 from 3 to 7 p. m. Tickets/adult takeouts available at the door. The cost for adults is $10, children (5-12) is $5 and children 4 and under are free.
