How happy those people must have been on that first Resurrection Day! They had seen with their own eyes that Jesus was crucified. He died. Their sorrow seemed endless; heartbreaking. All that they had believed about their “conquering King” was buried in a cold tomb. But then, their Lord and leader, Jesus Christ, conquered death and rose from the grave! Their joy was ecstatic! How excited they were to spread the word. “Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!” they called to each other. They ran to tell others.
Are we as excited as those first followers of our Lord? Or are we too complacent –taking for granted the price paid for us to live? This is one of our “joys of discipleship” –to declare the wonderful fulfillment of the promise of Christmas. Our Savior was born, died to save us, and now lives that we will live also. Will we joyfully spread the good news (Gospel) that Jesus rose to save us? Will we be the ones to gather people to Jesus? Let us be as enthusiastic as our ancestors in faith and excitedly tell others about our living, loving Lord!
On Easter Day, April 20, there will be two Worship Services. The first will be the Sunrise Service, held at 6:30 am. After our service, we will enjoy a wonderful breakfast prepared by the men of the church, which will include eggs, hash browns, sausage and dessert. As we share this meal, we continue to celebrate with each other and join our spirits deeper in Christ.
Sunday School will meet at 9:00 am for a celebration of Christ’s gift of life. Our focus will be to express our happiness that God loves us with no strings attached. God will love us wherever we are and that he is happy that we want to be a part of his family.
Our celebration continues at our 10:30 am worship service. Our choirs will joyfully sing, glorifying our Lord. The adult choir’s praise will be presented through their anthem “You Are My Light” and the children’s choir will enthusiastically proclaim “Everybody Celebrate!” With Christians everywhere on this triumphant day, we will celebrate by partaking in Communion, unity with each other and unity with Christ. Let all the earth rejoice and let the heavens sing their praise –Jesus Christ is risen! He is risen, indeed –Everybody Celebrate!
