BAGPIPE PRESENTATION AT ST. JUDE’S

BAGPIPE PRESENTATION AT ST. JUDE’S-Kindergarten and first grade students at St. Jude School enjoyed a program conducted by Mr. Herb Cruikshank, a bagpiper for over thirty years. Mr. Cruikshank is continuing the tradition of playing bagpipes that has been in his family for generations. He explained the significance of the many different parts of his attire and played Amazing Grace, Scotland the Brave, and Rowan Tree for the students. Mr. Cruikshank owns several different types of bagpipes and brought two for the students to examine -the smaller size parlor pipes, and the more familiar larger size. He described the parts of a bagpipe and told how different tunes are used for different occasions such as weddings, funerals, parades, and parties.
