St. Mary’s Knights Of Columbus Selling Fish Fry Tickets After Masses

St. Mary’s of Dorrance is a welcoming church. The pastor of St. Mary’s is Reverend Joseph Evanko, and Reverend Gerald Shantillo, Assistant Pastor. The weekend Mass schedule is Saturday at 5:30 p. m. and Sunday at 9 a. m.

The Light is on For You: Confessions heard every Monday during lent from 5:30-7 p. m. at Saint Jude Church.

Next Sunday, April 6, there is a meeting for all religious Education second grade parents/guardians. Important information for the Sacrament of Eucharist will be discussed. Please gather with your children in the Church at 10 a. m.

The seventh grade students will be helping with the Seder Meal on Thursday, April 10. Students are asked to arrive at 4 p. m. to help with set-up. More information will be going home with students.

The next meeting of St. Theresa’s Guild will be held Tuesday, April 8 at 6 p. m. in the dining room. To join the Guild or for more information, call Julia at 570-379-3034.

The Altar & Rosary Society will meet Tuesday, April 22 at 7 p. m. in the meeting room. Please note the day change due to Easter. Election of officers will be held at this meeting. The ladies will not have a Communion Sunday in April.

The ladies are selling beautiful Palm Crosses very reasonably priced at $10. Crosses are available after all Masses and will be sold until Palm Sunday. For more information please call Maureen Baab at 570-868-3721.

The Altar & Rosary Society is taking orders for Easter Rolls; Apricot, Poppy Seed, Prune, and Nut will be available for $8 each. They would be a nice gift item for Easter. Pre-paid orders can be placed in the offertory basket or be made by calling Susan Miller at 868-6983 before April 7 or Michele Clark April 7-11. Orders can be picked up April 17 after 12 noon in the rectory meeting room.

The Knights of Columbus will meet on Wednesday, April 2 at 8 p. m. in the social hall. For information on becoming a member call Tony at 868-8401, or John at 379-3721.

The Knights are still casting their nets upon the deep waters hoping for a big one for the Fish Fry, on April 18 from 3 to 7 p. m. so keep your stomachs empty! Tickets will be available after Mass the weekend of April 5/6. More details to follow after the April 2 meeting.

Extraordinary Ministers, Lectors, and Altar Servers are asked to sign up for Holy Week and Easter Masses based on their availability. Sheets are in the sacristy. (Or call the office to be added to the schedule.) Please sign up early.

The parish will share a Seder Meal on Thursday, April 10 at 6 p. m. in the social hall. Please sign up on the sheet in front of the cry room. There is no cost for the meal, but donations will be accepted.

The Youth Group is sponsoring an Easter Activity Day for all children on Sunday, April 6 from 11a.m. to 1 p. m. in the social hall. Children will have lunch, make Easter crafts and goodies, dye eggs, and receive a goodie bag. Reservations are not needed but greatly appreciated. Students who are in Religious Education classes are encouraged to stay.

The next meeting of St. Mary’s Community Outreach Team is Wednesday, April 9 at 7 p. m. in the meeting room. This team now incorporates the Crochet Group and the Rosary Makers.

Members of Girl Scout Troop 33320 are currently working on their Bronze Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouting. With the help of the community, they will be collecting household items to be placed in gift baskets. The baskets will then be gifted to the women of Ruth’s Place, an emergency housing shelter for homeless women in Luzerne County, upon successful attainment of their own housing. Items needed include brooms, laundry baskets, cleaning supplies, clothes hangers, etc. The collection will continue through April 2014.

Our parish is participating in CRS Rice Bowl, as a way to encounter Jesus through others, through the most vulnerable in our world. Rice Bowls are available at all exits.
