The weekend of March 8-9, Pennstar Bank completed its brand transition and officially operates as NBT Bank. Since its beginning, Pennstar Bank has always been a part of NBT Bank, and looks to continue its local, community-focused approach to banking while enhancing customer’s access to more services, branches and ATMs.
While the name has changed, customers continue to be served by the same experienced team at all current branch locations and local business line partners. In recent years, NBT Bank has expanded across New York as well as entered Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. The bank has consolidated its divisions to strengthen customers’ awareness of the expanding scale and capabilities associated with the NBT Bank brand. Customers now have easier access to a network of 158 branches and more than 180 ATMs across NBT Bank’s footprint that extends across five states. Additionally, the brand change allows the bank to allocate more resources to customer-focused initiatives.
“Pennstar Bank has been serving customers and communities in the northeastern Pennsylvania region for more than a decade with roots that date back over a century.” said David Raven, NBT Bank President of Retail Banking and President of Pennsylvania. “NBT Bank has been serving customers for over 150 years with a similar community-minded focus. Unifying our bank divisions under the NBT brand, allows us to strengthen our commitment to our customers and will make it easier for them to identify with the locations and services available to them across the territory we serve.”
NBT Bank offers personal banking, asset management and business services through a network of 158 banking locations in five states including upstate New York, northeastern Pennsylvania, northwestern Vermont, western Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. NBT Bank and its parent company, NBT Bancorp Inc., are headquartered in Norwich, N. Y. NBT Bancorp Inc. had assets of $7.7 billion as of December 31, 2013, and is traded on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the symbol NBTB.
