Noted Author, Cartoonist Visits Wyoming Valley Montessori School

As a part of National Montessori Week celebrations, noted cartoonist Bob Heim visited the Wyoming Valley Montessori School in Kingston. In addition to working as a cartoonist and illustrator, Mr. Heim, of Wilkes-Barre, has authored the children’s books, “The Squeaking Earl,” and “That was the year we hadaunts.” Duringhisvisit, Mr. Heim demonstrated his artistry to the students with an interactive cartooning exercise, read “The Squeaking Earl,” and discussed how as a cartoonist he gets his inspiration. The visit encouraged the students to express their artistic talents.

WVMS was founded in 1970 by a group of parents interested in the educational philosophies of Dr. Marie Montessori. The school has a staff of 30 and an enrollment of over 120 students. It is an independent, nonprofi t co-educational day school and is fully accredited by the American Montessori Society and the Middle States Association Commission on Elementary Schools.
