Mary Grace Eckert, a sixth grade student at St. Jude School in Mountaintop, was recently honored for her involvement in the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors Program.

During a few weeks before Christmas, Mary Grace sold Christmas cards for $1 each to students at the school and set up a stand in a few area businesses that were also supportive of her efforts. The signed cards, many with personal words of thanks, were then delivered personally by Mary Grace to veterans at the Walter Reed National Military Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.

Eckert also raised $3,565.50 in donations for the PA Wounded Warriors, whose mission is to help restore wounded warriors to good physical, mental and emotional health.

In recognition of her efforts, Mary Grace was also presented with a certificate naming her the first student ambassador to the PA Wounded Warriors, Inc. by Mrs. Helen Sajer, program founder.
