The following February Events at the Marian Sutherland Kirby Library:

New! Homework Help with Ms. Michelle!

Stop in the library on Fridays from 3 –5pm and Ms. Michelle will help you with any school projects, homework, or studying. For any age and any grade! Remember, even if you can’t make it on Fridays, one of our librarians is always here to help!

Lego Club

Join us on Saturday, February 8 from 1 –2:30 for our monthly Lego Club! No need to bring your own Legos, we have it all! Meet new friends and enjoy free Lego play! For ages 2 –11.

Furry Tails Reading Partners

Is your child a shy or hesitant reader or do they just love to read? Visit the Library at 6:30pm on Wednesday, February 26 and your child can read to a certified therapy dog! These gentle and sweet dogs love to be read to! Call or visit to register.

Children’s Book Club: Coming in March!

Starting in March, Ms. Michelle will host an afterschool book club for ages 7 -11. The first selection is The Mouse and The Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary.

Teen Advisory Group

Our next TAG meeting will be on Wednesday, February 12 at 6:30pm. Open to ages 12 –17, join us and have a say in the library’s teen programming. Call or visit to register for TAG!

Teen Book Club

Teen Book Club meets on Wednesday, February 26 at 6:30. Ages 12 –17 welcome! Pick up a copy of this month’s selection, Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell, at the circulation desk. We will meet at the library, 35 Kirby Avenue Mountaintop. Please call to register or for more information.

Beginner computer classes

Get to know the basics including mouse skills and basic computer use. One on one computer classes for anyone age 55 and up. Every other Thursday from 2 –3pm. Please call or visit to sign up for a date. Space is very limited.

Second level computer classes

Do you already know the basics? Then join us for the next step. We will teach web browsing and email one on one for anyone age 55 and up. Every other Wednesday at 3:30pm. Please call or visit to register.

Social Media Classes

Learn the basics of social media one-on-one! Set up a Facebook page, Twitter or Pinterest account! Because classes are one-on-one, space is very limited. Please call or visit to register. Classes are held every other Saturday at 2pm.

eBook Workshop

Join us on Saturday, February 22 at 11am for a free eBook workshop. We will show you how to download free eBooks from Luzerne County. iPads, Kindle Fire, Nook HD, and windows, and Android devices. Older model Kindles and Nooks are not compatible. Call or visit to register.

Blind Date With a Book Now you can’t judge a book by its

cover! Let the library set you up on a blind date with a book. The books are wrapped up so you won’t know what you have until you get it home! The date could be a total dud or total stud! The book may be Adult Fiction, Adult Nonfiction, Young Adult Fiction, or Young Adult Nonfiction. Fill out the “Rate Your Date” form inside your mystery book and return the form to the circulation desk by February 28, 2014 to be entered to win a Barnes & Noble gift card.
