Crestwood (5-3) cruised to a 50-36 win in basketball over visiting Coughlin on January 10.

A strong first half by Crestwood put the lady Comets up by 20 points. Coughlin managed to stay with Crestwood in the final two periods but it wasn’t enough to overtake their opponents.

Rebecca Rutkowski and Maddie Ritsick paced the lady Comets with 15 and 13 points, respectively, in the win.

Also putting points on the board were Taryn Wojnar with six, and Dallas Kendra chipped in four. Maury Cronauer and Ferdinand each tossed in a three while A. Cuono, H. Muse, A. Murphy and Abbie Macko each added a bucket.

Rutkowski led the Crestwood girls to a 50-38 win over visiting Berwick on January 6.

Crestwood got off to a quick start, outscoring Berwick 13-5 in the opening period. After trading shots in an even second period, the lady Comets went into the final period up by nine. The lady Bulldogs had the hot hand in the final period but it wasn’t enough to catch Crestwood.

Rutkowski scored a game high 14 points, followed by Ritsick with 18.

Also putting points on the board for the lady Comets were Dallas Kendra with four while Maury Cronauer and H. Muse each tossed in two.

Crestwood dominated host Wyoming Valley West, capturing a 54-39 win on January 8. The teams traded shots in the

opening period with WVW edging Crestwood by a point to begin the second period. It was all Crestwood for the next three periods with a strong scoring effort by Rutkowski who was the game-high scorer with 24 points, followed by Ritsick with 21.

win in basketball on January 11, breezing to a 54-34 victory over host Coughlin.

Chris Fazzini led a balanced scoring effort by the Comets with 13 points, followed by B. Gallagher and Luke Casey who each added nine points.

B. Markowski and R. Hopkins each tossed in five while A. Klimchock and J. Malkemes chipped in three.

J. Dotzel and L. Blass scored tow points apiece.

The Crestwood boys routed visiting Wyoming Valley West on January 9, winning by a score of 73-50.

Fazzini led the Comets with 22 points, followed by Casey who tossed in 16.

Brady Gallagher chipped in 11 and Cole Wasco added eight in the win.

Also scoring for Crestwood were Robbie Hopkins with five, Brian Markowski, four and J. Dotzel, with three. Klimchock, Rojas and Amosson each added two points in the win.
