Kirby Library Announces January Slate Of Events

Special events are scheduled at the Marian Sutherland Kirby Libraryduring the month of January.

Teen Book Club will meet on Wednesday, January 22 at 6:30. Ages 12 –17 welcome! Pick up a copy of this month’s selection, The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, at the circulation desk. Le Cirque des Reves, open only at night, offers a unique experience for anyone lucky enough to attend. Behind the curtain, two young magicians, Celia and Marco, compete in a deadly game where only one can be left standing. We will meet at the library, 35 Kirby Avenue Mountaintop. New 6 week Story Time Sessions with Ms. Michelle! For ages 2 –5. Choose from Wednesdays at 1pm from January 8 to February 12 OR Thursdays at 10am from January 9 to February 13. Story times include games, crafts, exciting and educational books, songs, and much more! Please register at the circulation desk or by calling the library at 570-474-9313.

New 6 week Lap Sit Sessions with Ms. Michelle! For ages 0 –23 months. Wednesdays at 9:30am from January 8 to February 12. Lap sits include playing, songs, reading, and finger plays! Please register by visiting or calling the library.

Beginner computer classes! Get to know the basics including mouse skills and basic computer use. One on one computer classes for anyone age 55 and up. January 16, or 30, February 13, or 27 from 2 –3pm. Please call or visit to sign up for a date. Space is very limited.

New! Second level computer classes! Do you already know the basics? Then join us for the next step. We will teach web browsing and email one on one for anyone age 55 and up. Wednesday January 8 or 22, February 5 or 19 from 3:30 –4:30pm. Please call or visit to register, space is very limited.

New! Social Media Classes! Learn the basics of social media one-on-one! Set up a Facebook page, Twitter or Pinterest account! Because classes are one-on-one, space is very limited. Please call or visit to register. Starting Saturday, January 25 at 2pm. Classes will be held every other Saturday after this at 2pm.

eBook Workshop: Join us on Saturday, January 25 at 11am for a free eBook workshop. We will show you how to download free eBooks from Luzerne County. iPads, Kindle Fire, Nook HD, and windows, and android devices. Older model Kindles and Nooks are not compatible. Call or visit to register.
