Epiphany, also known as “Three Kings Day” and “Twelfth Day,” is a Christian Holiday commemorated on January 6. It falls on the twelfth day after Christmas, and for some denominations signals the conclusion of the twelve days of the Christmas season. The feast celebrates the manifestation of God in the form of human flesh through Jesus Christ, his Son. A celebration of The Feast of The Epiphany with Holy Eucharist will be held at St. Stephen’s Pro Cathedral on Monday, Jan. 6. Immediately following the service, a potluck supper will be held in the parish hall. All are welcome.
January 25th is St. Martin’s Pork and Sauerkraut Dinner at 4:00 pm. This is a great feast of roasted fresh pork loin, sauerkraut, homemade mashed potatoes, gravy and applesauce. There will be a really great bake sale featuring pie, cakes, and our famous Welsh cookies.
The St. Martin’s auxiliary will meet on the first Tuesday of the month. The membership is open to all members of the church. This is a very active group. They work extremely hard to help the church financially and spiritually. Every month they hold a hoagie sale. They bake our famous Welsh Cookies 4 to 5 times a year. They were responsible for the food at last years First Annual Kite Festival (their sloppy Joes got rave reviews). They hold a Flea Market and Bake Sale every June and are a tremendous help at the Annual Bazaar and Bake Sale. They decorate the Church for all the seasons.
The Auxiliary is a vital part of St. Martin in the Fields Church and welcomes new members with open arms and an apron. Come see us in action, baking Welsh cookies this month for the bake sale at the Pork and Sauerkraut Dinner. Call Joan at 570-474-9848 for the date and time.
Every month, on the 4th Sunday the 10:00am Holy Eucharist will include a Healing Service. This month the service will be on January 26th. Please join us for this very moving ceremony.
The Book Nook is overflowing with great reading material and more is arriving almost daily. The Book Nook will be open on the second and third Saturdays of January.
