St. Jude’sYouth Group ToAttend March For Life On January 21

Members of the St. Jude Youth Group are invited to attend the March for Life in Washington, D. C. The journey will begin on Tuesday, January 21, 2014. The group will leave at 12 noon for George Mason University and join 10,000 other high school students for an evening of prayer. Matt Maher will lead the music and Mary Bielski and Fr. Agustino Torres, CFR will be keynote speakers. The group will stay overnight at George Mason University and then Wednesday morning, January 22, will attend the morning Rally for Life and Mass. Then on to the March for Life and the steps of the Supreme Court in Washington D. C. in protest of the Supreme Court’s decision to legalize abortion. The group will return home Wednesday night at about 9 p. m.

The cost for the trip is $100.00 and includes hotel room, tickets for evening prayer and rally, bus transportation, lunch and dinner on Wednesday, and breakfast and lunch on Wednesday. Money will be needed for dinner Wednesday. Registration forms (found on our website-www.stjc.org-click on

Youth Ministry) are due at the Parish Center by January 6, 2014. After this date, seats will be opened up to other youth groups and they will be filled.

Parishioners are invited to be an “I March With the Youth in Spirit” Sponsor. Given the cost of the trip to Washington (the bus alone costs $2,800), contributions in any amount are welcome. Please place in an envelope marked March for Life in the collection basket or drop it off at the Parish Center.

The parish is in dire need of two Eucharistic Ministers to help take communion to Smith Nursing Home on Sunday morning once a month. If you are able to help, please contact Deacon Gene at the Parish Center.

Parishioners are invited to join the Social Action Committee at St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre on Thurs., January 2 from 9 a. m. to 1 p. m. Carpools leave from the Parish Center at 8:45 a. m. Call Jody or Artie at 570-710-0137.

The Knights of Columbus Christmas party has been rescheduled to Saturday, January 4, 2014 and is open to all Knights, their families, and friends of the Knights. Cost is $12 per person. The Social Action Committee is collecting Pack-N-Plays, baby swings, high chairs, tubs, gates, and clothes for up to 2 years old for Pennsylvanians for Human Life. Anyone who would like to donate is asked to contact the Parish Center ext. 250 to make arrangements for pick up. No other items can be accepted.

Weekday Masses at St. Jude’s are Monday through Friday at 7 a. m. and Wednesday at 12:10 p. m. Weekday Masses at St. Mary’s are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 8 a. m. Saturday Vigil Masses are 4 p. m. at St. Jude’s and 5:30 p. m. at St. Mary’s. Sunday Masses are 7:30 a. m., 9 a. m., 10:30 a. m. and noon at St. Jude’s and 9 a. m. at St. Mary’s.
