The Crestwood boys basketball team defeated visiting Meyers, 49-40, in an exhibition game played December 12. Cole Wasko led the Comets with a game-high 14 points.
Crestwood got off to a slow start, ending the first half, down by three points to the Mohawks. They turned on the heat in the third stanza, outscoring Meyers, 18-6, which turned out to be the difference in the game.
Also scoring for Crestwood were Luke Casey with 10 points, while Brady Gallagher and Chris Fazzini each tossed in eight points. R. Hopkins had six, and L. Rojas, five.
The Crestwood girls basketball team lost to visiting Scranton Prep, 43-28, on December 9.
For the lady Comets, Maddy Ritsick tossed in 13 points followed by Rebecca Rutkowski with nine. Also putting points on the board
for Crestwood were Tarny Wojnar with added five points and Kassie Ferdinand added one.
Crestwood fell to visiting Nanticoke Area on December 11, by a score of 57-55.
Rutkowski and Ritsick powered the lady Comets scoring effort with 18 and 16 points, respectively.
Teammates Maury Cronauer chipped in with 8 points, followed by Abbie Macko with six and Wojnar, five.
On December 13, Crestwood defeated visiting Meyers, 52-49.
Rutkowski led the lady Comets with 23 points in the close, hard-fought contest.
Dallas Kendra chipped in with 13, followed by Wojnar with seven, Ritsick, four, and Macko, three.
