The Crestwood boys and girls cross country had six medal winners at last week’s Wyoming Valley Conference League championship meet held at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds in Meshoppen.
Earning medals for the boys team were Nick McGuire who was 14th in 17:48, while Brian Knorr was 30th in 18:42 on the 5K course. For the girls Allie Kachel was 13th in 21:11 with Kailee Traficante 14th in 21:24, while Megan Knorr was 35th in 23:00 on the 5K course. In the girls junior high race Erin Hines was 22nd in 15:27 on the 3K course to give coach Fran Gough six medal winners.
Rounding out the top five runners for the Crestwood boys were Raj Patel with a time of 20:07, while Steven Ross ran 20:18 and Sean Gavin 22:12. Also competing in the race were Mike Paranich, Chase Riccio, Robbie Shovlin, Jake Reilly, and Ian Egan. As a team the Comets finished 10th of 15 teams. Crestwood’s remaining top six
finishers for the girls were Ashley Paranich in 25:13, while April Panas ran 25:36 and Katie Snipas 28:50. As a team the Comets finished fifth of 14 teams.
For the junior high girls Katie Sklarosky ran 16:52 with Claudia Brown running 17:26; Aofie McTavish 18:30 and Syndey Cantwell 19:14. Also competing were Lexy Gierszal and Liz Sulkowski. Crestwood was ninth of 11 teams in the team competition.
The boys junior high team was led by Matt Brunetti with a time of 14:25, while Joe Taylor ran 14:45 and David Mazur 14:46. Also competing were Tyler Lecompte, Jacob Swartwood, Tyler Snipas and Jacky Gao.
The boys and girls varsity teams compete on Oct. 23 in the PIAA District 2 championships at Elk Lake High School.
