Halloween Story Times! Join Ms. Michelle for some spooky story times. On Friday, October 18 at 1:30pm, listen to stories about Monsters and on Friday, October 25 at 1:30pm hear all about Halloween. For ages 2 –5. Come for a “spook-tacular” time!
Join gentle Therapy Dogs for a special Halloween reading program! Bring in your children and have them read to dogs! Great for reluctant readers! October 19 at 1pm.
Teens: Join Jennifer Severini-Kresock, MS, a private career and college counselor, as she discusses her Top 10 Tips for Getting Admitted to the College of Your Dreams. This free workshop will offer useful information to any high school student, whether you’re just starting to think about college or are getting your applications ready. Saturday, October 19 at 1pm.
Free computer classes for seniors 55 and over. Space is limited. This is a very basic computer skills class –beginners only! Every Thursday at 2pm. eReader Workshop: Bring in your eReader/tablet and learn how to download ebooks! We’ll try to answer any of your questions. October 22 at 6pm.
Holiday Mail for Heroes-Help the Marian Sutherland Kirby Library support our military by sending the American Red Cross holiday cards to distribute to veterans, military families, and active-duty service members. We will be taking holiday card donations (glitter-free, please) throughout October and November. You can donate blank cards or fill out a card and send it to us and we’ll send it to the Red Cross.
There are blank cards at the library if anyone would like to stop by and fill out a card. The cards will be mailed on November 30 so please be sure to have all donated cards in before this date.
According to the Red Cross’s guidelines, please use generic salutations, do not put the card in a sealed envelope, do not include your address or your email, and do not include any inserts.
