Mary Wychock

Mary Wychock, 82, Mountain Top, died peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, surrounded by her family.

Born on Nov. 22, 1930, she was a daughter of late Jacob and Catherine Kotch of Wilkes-Barre. Mary graduated from Coughlin High School in 1949 and married Carl Wychock in 1953. Together, they raised seven children.

Mary was a business owner for many years alongside her husband, Carl. They ran Christy Fashions in Glen Lyon for 20 years and then Wychock’s Beverage.

Mary was a longtime member of St. Jude’s Parish. She volunteered her time to many organizations, including the Mountain Top Women’s Club, the Altar and Rosary Society and St. Jude’s Church.

Mary was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Throughout her life, Mary was hard-working and committed to her family. Mary was a wonderful cook and avid gardener. She also enjoyed many craft projects.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Catherine; and brother, Jacob.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Carl; their seven children, Karen Wychock, Warrington, Carl Wychock Jr. and his wife, Stephanie, Mountain Top, Mary Wychock, Mountain Top, Joseph Wychock and his wife, Vickie, Brackney, Pa., Judy Sawka and her husband, Ted, Mountain Laura, White Haven, and Christine Dopp and her husband, Ed, Mountain Top; 12 grandchildren, Christopher, Jonathan, Katie, Rachel, Teddy, Emily, Jennifer, Adam, Matthew, Nathan, Jacob and Natalie; and one great-grandchild, Jakob.

Funeral services were held from Desiderio Funeral Home, 436 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Jude’s Church. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the St. Jude Building Fund, 422 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top, PA 18707.

William (Bill) Ayers

Business Owner

William (Bill) Ayers, 68, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013.

Born in Scranton on Jan. 8, 1945, he was the son of the late William and Anne Pressmann Ayers. Prior to retirement, he was the owner of Simms Auto Service and Ayers Towing Service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Price.

Surviving are his daughter, Diane Hollock and her husband, Eric; his son, Todd Ayers and his wife, Lisa; and four grandchildren, Nicholas and Erica Hollock and Brittany and Alexandra Ayers.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a. m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, in St. Jude Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. There will be no calling hours.
