Crestwood Cross Country Teams Split In Cluster Meets

The Crestwood boys and girls cross country teams competed in two cluster meets last week.

In a meet at Kirby Park on Monday, Sept. 16th the boys team won two and lost one knocking off Holy Redeemer 21-34 and Wyoming Seminary 24-31, while losing to Coughlin 20-35. Nick McGuire finished sixth overall in 17:59 with Brian Knorr second for Crestwood and 13th overall in 19:11. Also competing were Raj Patel who was 16th in 19:28; Sean Gavin 24th in 20:47; Chase Riccio and Robbie Shovlin.

The girls cross country team went 3 and 0 beating Holy Redeemer 26-29, Wyoming Seminary 26-29 and Coughlin 15-50. Allie Kachel finished third in the meet and first for Crestwood in a time of 21:31, while Kailee Traficante was second for the team and seventh overall in 22:04. Also competing was Megan Knorr who was 12th in 24:06; Ashley Paranich in 18th place and April Panas in 21st.

On Wednesday, Sept. 18th the Comets competed in a cluster meet at Misericordia’s 42nd Street course hosted by Dallas High School. The boys cross country team went

3 and 0 Hazleton 27-28; Hanover 19-40 and Nanticoke 15-50. Nick McGuire was seventh overall and first for Crestwood in 18:32 with Brian Knorr 11th overall and second on the team in 19:33. Raj Patel was 13th in 19:38 with Sean Gavin 18th and Steve Ross in 19th. The boys’ record is now 6-2.

The girls team won two meets and lost one at meet. Crestwood beat Hanover 24-33 and Nanticoke 15-50 while coming up short against Hazleton 18-43. Allie Kachel was eighth overall in 21:23, while Kailee Traficante was second for Crestwood and 12th overall in 22:29. Also, Megan Knorr was 18th, April Panas 23rd and Ashley Paranich 24th. The girls’ record is 6-2.
