Rice Township paid out a total of $81,826 in monthly expenses at their regular meeting Tuesday September 10. Payments were made to H. A. Thomson & Co. for Insurance and Bonding in the amount of $6,204. Thomson provides errors and ommisions and liability insurance for Rice employees and public officials. Quad 3 was paid a total of $6742 for engineering services. The paving of one mile of Heslop Road was the most recent project that Quad 3 worked on. Rice has not yet paid $102,242 to Pennsy Supply for the Heslop Road paving project.
Other large payments included $7115 for purchase, equipment and debt on the 2010 truck, and $5608 the monthly premium to Geisinger Health Plan for employee health insurance.
Solicitor William Higgs was approved for payments totaling $4886.50 for services in researching and drawing up an ordinance to vacate Heslop Road -$1937.50, reviewing correspondence from Jeff Rockman regarding claims for Rice Township to pay his fees for representation of Marcia Thomas on various issues-$1079; Fire Department Issues-$1057.50; Polonia Estates $525; Hayden Rezone-$75; and Vehicle Noise Issue-$287.50.
Attorney Donald Brobst, Rosenn Jenkins and Greenwald was approved for $941.60 for litigation matters relative to Thomas Vs. Rice Township, et al.
Rice Township currently has three attorneys representing them for various issues and matters. Chris Gerber, Siana, Bellwoar & McAndrew, LLP, represents the township’s insurance carrier in their defense of township Supervisors Miller Stella, George Venesky, Don Armstrong and others in a defamation
