Plans for the annual Independence Day celebrations are well in hand, it was
reported at the supervisors’ June 10 meeting.
Chairman Dan Frascella asked Supervisor Jerry Uram for the recreation
committee news. Uram advised that the contract has been
executed with Celebration Fireworks, Inc. of New Smithville, PA.
The low bid was $4,900 for the fireworks display, which is scheduled for
Wednesday, July 3rd. A parade will be held the following day that will
end at the Wright Township Municipal Park.
In other recreation news, the township’s
summer park program was set for the start date of June 17. Steve
Waskie was approved as the program director. Four staff members from
last year are returning and one new member has been hired. Waskie will attend the committee meetings and provide updates.
Frascella noted that a letter was received from the Crestwood School Board,
“advising that the Board of
Directors approved payment to Wright Township of $15,000 for repair to the tennis courts at the township
park in return for which the
district will have use of the tennis court for a ten year period commencing on July 1.” He added that
the district will be permitted to review the bids for resurfacing the courts.
Based on advice from Solicitor Michael
R. Kostelansky, the board rescinded a motion passed in May to
