Jared Weisenberger, son of Jeff and Linda Weisenberger, a 5th grade student at Fairview Elementary School, has been nominated to represent his school and community as a member of the 2013 Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D. C. this month.
Jared will join over 250 outstanding middle school students from across the United States who will take part in an extraordinary conference. Themed Voices of Leadership: Reflecting on the Past to Create the Future, the Junior National Leadership Conference introduces young people to the rich tradition of leadership throughout American history while helping them to develop their own leadership skills.
During the six-day program, students take part in educational activities and presentations and explore relevant sites, such as Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, West Virginia and Washington D. C.’s museums and memorials.
Jared was nominated to attend the conference by his 5th grade math and science teacher, Mrs. Ritsick. Attending this program will be an important step toward developing critical leadership skills necessary for success in life.
Jared maintains good grades while being involved in many after school activities and sports.
In April, Jared crossed over to Boys Scouts. He also acolytes and attends the Trucksville United Methodist Church and Church School. He has been selected to participate in the Safety Bus Patrol for Fairview Elementary. Jared presently competes in travel soccer with the Pocono Snow Soccer Club, plays travel ice hockey with the Wilkes-Barre Pens organization and helped the Crestwood Middle School ice hockey team win the 2012-2013 Championship.
Jared’s parents would like to thank all the family, friends, Church members and local businesses that have sponsored Jared on this educational journey.
