James F. Balon

Avid Hunter

James F. Balon, 74, Mountain Top, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Born in Mount Jewett, he was a son of the late John and Lillian Balon.

James retired from RCA Corp., Mountain Top, where he had been employed for 37 years. He was an avid hunter for the majority of his life.

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Greenwald; nephew, Robert Mix; niece, Linda Parr.

He is survived by his sons, Richard Balon and his wife, Diane, and Michael Balon, all of Mountain Top; grandchildren, Mykenzie and Jazmin Balon; sister, Donna Sleepy, Pittsfield, Pa.; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family and are under the direction of McCune Funeral Home, Mountain Top.

Craig Scharlatt

Drums Resident

Craig “Chuck” Scharlatt, 61, Drums, died surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 4, 2013 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem.

Chuck was born in Copaigue, N. Y., March 20, 1952, and was the son of the late Bertram Scharlatt and late Miriam Stone. He was a graduate of Huntington High School, New York, and had been employed for many years by the Broward County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy sheriff. He also worked for Playboy Corp., serving as its assistant head of security. Chuck was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose since 1996.

Surviving are his loving wife of 29 years, Carol; son, Kenneth, age 27; siblings, Jeffrey, Harold (Sparky) and Fredrica (Ricci). Craig was also the very proud uncle of eight nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held. from Desiderio Funeral Home Inc., 436 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township.

The family requests that donations be made in Chuck’s name to one of three charities: The American Heart Assoc., American Kidney Foundation or The American Diabetes Assoc. .

Alma Leona Hosier

Alma Leona Hosier, 91, Weatherly, formerly of White Haven, died May 8, 2013, in Weatherwood Nursing Home, Weatherly.

Born in White Haven, she was a daughter of the late Paula and Edith Kindred Hosier and was a caregiver most of her life. She was a High School graduate and a member of Mountain View Community Church.

Alma was preceded by sisters, May Hosier, Ruth Hosier, Edith Hosier, Grace Gosier, Eunice Hosier, Bessie Jones, brothers, Martin Luther Hosier, Reverend Paul Hosier, David Hosier, Reverend John Ralph Hosier and Luther Hosier.

She is survived by sister, Myrtle Vogel, White Haven; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Mountain View Community Church, White Haven.

Arrangements were by Lehman Family Funeral Serivce, White Haven.
