The schedule of the Liturgies of the Paschal Triduum is as follows:
Holy Thursday –Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper on March 28 at 7 p. m. This will include Welcoming the Paschal Triduum, Liturgy of the Word, washing of the feet, collection for the poor, Liturgy of the Eucharist, procession to the Reservation Chapel, vigiling and the Paschal fast begins. High Prayer will be at 10 p. m. in Father Nolan Center.
Good Friday –Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion on March 29 at 3 p. m. This will include prostration in silence, Liturgy of the Word, intercessions for the world, veneration of the Cross, and communion. Tenebrae Service will be at 7 p. m. in the church. This is a special service of Scripture and music.
Holy Saturday -The Easter Vigil on March 30 at 8 p. m. This will include the Easter bonfire outside, thanksgiving for the Light, proclamation of Scripture, blessing and sprinkling of water, and Liturgy of the Eucharist. The Blessing of Easter Baskets will take place in the school gym at 1:30 p. m.
Rehearsals will be at the church as follows:
Holy Thursday –March 28 –altar servers at 3 p. m; Eucharistic ministers for procession at 6 p. m; footwashees at 6:15 p. m.
Good Friday –March 29 –altar servers at 9 a. m; cross bearers at 10 a. m.
Holy Saturday –March 30 –altar servers at 10 a. m.
The Parish Center will be closed on Good Friday, March 29 and Easter Monday, April 1. The office will re-open Tuesday, April 2 at 7:30 a. m.
The Pilgrim Virgin Statue will be at the home of Sandra, Patrick, Jacob, and Joseph Januszewski through March 30. For more information, call Gloria at 868-5346.
The following fast and abstinence regulations are to be observed during Lent:
* Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence.
* All Catholics who have reached their 14th birthday are to abstain from eating meat on Good Friday, and on all Fridays during Lent.
*All Catholics over 18 years of age to the beginning of their 60th year are bound to the obligation of fasting. Those bound by this rule may take only one full meal and two smaller meals unless dispensed or excused.
Classes will begin soon for the Diocesan Religious Award called “The Family of God”. This award is for third grade boys and girls. If interested in having your child earn this medal, or if you have any questions, please leave your name and number at the Parish Center by April 3.
Parishioners are invited to join the Social Action Committee at St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, April 4 from 9 a. m. until 1 p. m. Carpools leave from the Parish Center at 8:45 a. m. Call Jody or Artie at 868-8279.
St. Jude Parish Center hours: Monday -9 a. m. until 7 p. m.; Tuesday –7:30 a. m. until 4 p. m.; Wednesday through Friday –9 a. m. until 4 p. m.
Weekday Masses at St. Jude’s are Monday through Friday at 7 a. m. and Wednesday at 12:10 p. m. Weekday Masses at St. Mary’s are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 8 a. m. Saturday Vigil Masses are 4 p. m. at St. Jude’s and 5:30 p. m. at St. Mary’s. Sunday Masses are 7:30 a. m., 9 a. m., 10:30 a. m. and noon at St. Jude’s and 9 a. m. at St. Mary’s.
