The congregation of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Mountain Top welcomes
all who would like to share in this community of faith.
Pastor Michele D. Kaufman leads Sunday worship services, at St. Paul’s,
at 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. A Maundy Thursday will be held on
March 28th at 7:00 p.m. Several youth will be receiving the First Holy Communion.
A Maundy Thursday Dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m.
A Tenebrae Service will be held on Good Friday, March 29th at 7:00 p. m. Easter services will be held at 8:
30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Renew your Christian faith by attending as many of these special events as you can.
Holy Communion will be offered at
both services, on Sunday, March 31st. The church office, (570-474-6616) is open Monday to Friday, from
8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday school is held at 9:30 a. m., with a nursery being provided for
infants through kindergarten, at the
11:00 a.m. worship service. An Adult Sunday School is held between services. The Adult Choir rehearses every
Sunday at 9:30 a.m., in the choir room, and the Bell Choir rehearses every Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
The Metropolitan Lutheran Council of Wyoming Valley is again offering support to the VA Hospital during
the Lenten Season. Donations of
the following items are requested: toothpaste; tooth brushes; disposable razors; shaving cream (3 oz. size); after
shave lotion (3 oz. size); body wash (no bar soap); deodorant; chap stick; small packs of tissues; shampoo
(without conditioner); hair brushes, combs; socks. Please, no
items in glass containers. The collection deadline is Easter Sunday, March
Our “Yarn Spinners,” meets on the first
Wednesday of each month; the next meeting is April 3rd, after the healing
service and luncheon. They are
currently working on items for ELCMA such as afghans, adult hats & scarves, shawls, baby blankets, hats &
booties. These need to be turned in by April 14th. If you are talented in crocheting
or knitting, or would like to
learn, you are invited to join them. Lessons will be given by Lois. If you can’t make their meetings, please call Lois at 474-5502, and volunteer your talents
by making the items at your own pace at home. All would be most appreciative.
WELCA is having a bus trip to Vanity
Fair in Reading, on Saturday, April 27th. Participants will be leaving
St. Paul’s at 7:30 a.m. They will depart from Vanity Fair at 4:00 p.
m., stop to eat, at their own cost, at the Cracker Barrel in Hamburg, and
arrive back in Mountain Top around 7:30 p.m. The cost will be $
26.00. The deadline of April 6th for
reservations is fast approaching. Payment for the trip, payable to Florence Drum, must be made by then.
Call either Florence Drum, at 678-3095, or Betty Nevin at 474-
6097, now to reserve a seat.
St. Paul’s has for purchase a “Cat’s Meow” of the church. There is a copy of one on the church on the table next to Pastor’s office. The cost of
these is $14 each. Payment is due upon signing up to order.
The Mountaintop Free Medical Clinic is open on Monday evenings, from
6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Patients are seen on a first-come basis. Volunteer doctors
and nurses donate their time to
provide medical assistance free of charge to individuals and families who have limited or no medical coverage.
No appointments are necessary for medical attention. The Medical
Clinic is in need of medical doctors who are willing to volunteer their
time at the Clinic. Please contact the church office to submit names
of any doctors who are willing to
donate a few hours of their time to help staff St. Paul’s Medical Clinic.
The Mountain Top Food Bank is open on Fridays, from 9:30 a.m. until
noon. Items needed, at this time, include: coffee, peanut butter, jelly, ketchup, dry soup, pudding and Jell-O mixes, popcorn, pork & beans, canned
tomatoes, canned soup, canned fruit, mustard, mayonnaise, tuna,
macaroni & cheese.
