The Luzerne County Primary Election will be held Tuesday May 21,
2013. Petitions and Financial Disclosure Statements were due Tuesday
March 12, 2013. Three candidates have filed petitions for the open six-year Supervisor term in
Rice Township. Mark Taney will run
unopposed for the Democratic nomination and Richard Evans and Donald Armstrong have filed to run as
Republicans. Republican George Venesky who currently holds the supervisor
seat did not file. Democrat Carl Smith has filed for
a Rice Auditor six-year term. Rhonda Rowles filed for Auditor the Republican ticket. Incumbent Joan Kogut
is running unopposed for Tax collector
Wright Township incumbent Supervisor Dan Frascella filed for
another 6-year term on the Democratic ticket. Colleen Macko, and
Michael Stair also filed as Democrats. Republican Donald Zampetti
is running unopposed. There are two open six-year terms for
Supervisor. Democrat incumbent Barbara Macko filed for four year Tax
Fairview Supervisor Bob Orloski filed
for a second term on the Republican slate. Maxine Macko filed
for Tax Collector on the Democrat line. Both are unopposed.
Joe Chalawick filed for six and
two year terms for Dorrance Township Supervisor. Incumbent Royce Engler filed for the six-year term
for Republican Supervisor and Republican William Wengrzynek filed
for a two-year supervisor term. Republicans Anthony DeLuca, Michelle
Zawoiski, Michael Johnson, Mark Gandzyk and Elizabeth Graham filed for four-year terms on Nuangola Borough Council. Democrats Regina Plodwick, Ted Vancosky, Joan Shirk and Joseph Tucker filed for four-year terms. Democrat Plodwick and Republican Johnson also filed for a 2-year term.
Five candidates filed for four open seats on the Crestwood School Board. Incumbents Eric Aigeldinger and Norb Dotzel have cross-filed on the Democrat and Republican tickets. Also cross filing are Peter Strecker, Randy Swank and Maureen McGovern. Four positions are for four-year terms.
