Crestwood captured third place in the Wyoming Valley Conference Wrestling Tournament on Sunday, January 7.
Crestwood scored 148.5 points in the team scores out of the 13 teams competing. Coughlin won with 202.2 points.
Several Crestwood grapplers turned in outstanding performances.
Comets Ron Grevera and Shane O’Rourke won their weight divisions. At 160, Grevera earned a 3-1 decision over Jayson Brielmeier of Hazleton Area, and at 220, O’Rourke pinned Tom Mercadante of Hanover Area in 40 seconds.
Justin Sterling took second place at 120 in the finals after losing by a 12-2 major decision to Darren Clarke of Coughlin.
Trey Zabroski captured third at 113 after pinning Tino Morrow of Coughlin in 3:43. Ryan Black also took third place at 182 earning a major 9-2 decision over Jaryn Polit-Moran of Wyoming Area.
Placing fourth for Crestwood were Jordan Maile at 126 after being pinned by Bob Long of Lake Lehman, and Garrett Swank at 132 after losing by a 7-1 decision to Charles Everdale of Hazleton Area.
Hunter Greenberg came in sixth for Crestwood at 106 after being pinned by Cael Davis of Hanover Area.

pinned Joelyn Espinal at 126 in 4:15; Garrett Swank won at 132 by forfeit; Liam Stone won by a 9-5 decision over Dante Matarella at 152; Ron Grevera won at 160 with a 5-1 decision over Jayson Brielmeier; Ron Black won by major 14-5 decision over Jeremy Aquino at 182; and at 285, Shane O’Rourke pinned Michael Fuchick in 2:25.
