Two Mountain Top residents are among the 15 people honored by Commonwealth Health as 2017 Employee of the Year award winners.
Each hospital names an Employee of the Year, Clinical Manager of the Year and Manager of the Year.
Craig Hiott, of Mountain Top, director of surgical services at Berwick Hospital Center, was named Clinical Manager of the Year.
Mark Lokuta, Mountain Top, was named Clinical Manager of the Year at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital where he is manager of respiratory services.
Hiott has worked at Berwick Hospital since 2010. He began his career as a surgical tech in the U. S. Navy, then attended nursing school at Florida Community College, Jacksonville, earning a bachelor’s degree from South University in Savannah, Ga. While working at the Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, he specialized in orthopedic nursing before moving to the transplant team. He and his wife, Angie, have two children, Alex and Emily.
At Wilkes-Barre General, Lokuta oversees respiratory therapy, neurophysiology and the sleep lab. He joined the staff in April 2016 and previously served as manager of respiratory therapy at Regional Hospital of Scranton, pulmonary manager at Select Hospital, Danville, and clinical respiratory care instructor at Luzerne County Community College. He is a registered respiratory therapist with certification in health care administration and holds an associate’s degree in respiratory therapy. He is a member of the National Board for Respiratory Care and the American Association for Respiratory Care.
He and his wife, Michelle, have a daughter, Lauren.
