Paul “Bear” Sedon, 64, Mountain Top, formerly of Wilkes-Barre died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, returning from a visit with his family for the holidays.
Born Oct. 3, 1953, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son to Mrs. Doris J. (Gaidish) Sedon and the late Mr. John Sedon Jr., who passed Oct. 11, 1999.
Educated locally, Paul was a graduate of the James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1972, and later furthered his education by attaining an associate degree at Luzerne County Community College, Nanticoke.
Prior to his untimely, passing, Paul was employed as a corrosion technician with the natural gas division of UGI Corporation, Wilkes-Barre Twp.
He held membership with St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre Twp. In his children’s youth, Paul previously served as a volunteer with Troop No. 55 of the Boy Scouts of America in Wilkes-Barre, and also assisted as coach for his daughter’s girls’ softball league in South Wilkes-Barre. In addition to his father’s passing,
he was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Jerry Dunn, Tommy Matchko, Daniel Burke; and by a nephew, Brian David Sedon.
Left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife of 25 years this past Oct. 2, the former Carol A. (Burke) Sedon, at home; son, Paul Thomas Sedon, graduate of the Lackland Air Force Base military school, Lackland, Texas; and Alyson June Sedon, a student at Crestwood High School, also at home; brothers and sisters, John and his wife, Ann Marie, Hudson; Michael and his wife, Marcia, Bear Creek Twp.; Susanna Dunn, Newtown; Joseph and his wife, Cindy, Wilkes-Barre; Ann Marie Matchko, Las Vegas, Nev.; and Stephan along with his wife, Suzanne, Wilkes-Barre; 17 nieces and nephews; 13 great-nieces and great-nephews; his uncle, Nicholas Sedon, Hazleton; numerous cousins, fellow co-workers and dear friends.
Funeral services with Panachida for Paul will be conducted at 9:30 a. m. Thursday from the Wilkes-Barre Heights location of John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc., 281 E. Northampton St., followed by the Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy at 10 a. m. in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 526 Church St., Wilkes-Barre Twp.
The Rev. Mykhaylo Prodanets, pastor, will serve as celebrant and homilist. Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in the family lot of Holy Assumption of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Lake Street, Dallas.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday from 4 until 7 p. m. at the funeral home.
