St. Martin In The Fields Announces Fall Calendar

St. Martin in the Fields is holding the 5th Annual Mountain Top Kite Festival, our biggest outreach project of the year on, September 30th. This will be a fantastic event for “children” of all ages. Each child can sign up to build a free kite from a kit and then be helped to learn how to fly it. There will be a kite flying exhibition by the Pocono Kite Symphony and a DJ will keep you entertained. Mark your calendar now so as not to miss out on this experience. A bounce house, face painter, a balloon sculptor and a zip line will be on hand for more fun things to do. There will be plenty of hotdogs and bar-b-ques for sale to sate your appetite. Volunteers are needed to help make this a success. Call Janeann at 570 868 6895 for more information.

A Chinese Auction will be held during the Kite Festival with many items to peruse. Just drop you tickets in the cans. There will be gift baskets, white elephant items, gift certificates and other treasures. All proceeds from the Auction will be donated to Ruth’s Place Women’s Shelter in Wilkes Barre. Along with the much needed volunteers, donations are requested for the raffle in the form of baskets, services, gift certificates and/or monetary donations.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church food bank provides food boxes for over 60 families each month. In Sept. we will be collecting peanut butter and jelly for their food bank. This past winter we collected cereal, dried milk, pasta and pasta sauces. You can bring you contribution to this worthy cause to the Church on Sundays.

Looking for some bargains in reading material? Stock up for your fall reading at St. Martin’s Book Nook sales. Fill a bag with your selections for just $5.00. The Nook will be open from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of September and from 4 to 7 p. m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of September. There are books for children and adults.

The Diocesan Convention is being held September 29th and 30th. This year the Episcopal Church Women’s Project is to help our partner diocese in South Sudan due to the ongoing Civil War. Temporary schools have been set-up but are in urgent need of school supplies. Here is how you can help… We are setting a goal of $500! A donation “box” has been set in the Narthex. Please bring a donation to Church every Sunday through September. A couple of pennies, a dollar, whatever you can spare, it adds up! Your prayerfull donations will be used to purchase books and necessary supplies. Please, let us all help the children of Kajo Keji. Let us all contribute some “Crumbs”from the Master’s Table!
