St. Mary’s Church Lists Liturgy Schedule, Calendar Of Activities

WELCOME! We warmly welcome all visitors! If you are new to our parish community, please be sure to introduce yourself to Fr. Joe and Fr. Kevin. Contact the parish office if you would like to become a member of our parish.

The weekend Mass schedule at St. Mary’s Church is Saturday at 5:30 p. m. and Sunday at 9 a. m.

Religious Education K-6: Saint Mary’s Religious education classes will begin on Sunday, September 17. Parents and children are to meet in the Church for the first class. The yearly calendar and other important information will be distributed. Classes meet on Sundays 9:50-11 a. m. Questions: Mrs. Heller 570-379-2647.

Confirmation Students-Classes for ninth grade begin September 10/11. Sunday class is 10:10-11:20 a. m. and Monday is 6:30-7:40 p. m.. Please attend on your scheduled day.

Classes for seventh and eighth grade will begin after Columbus Day. Questions: Mrs. Urbanski 570-474-6315, ext. 228 or pamurb3@gmail.com.

Religious Education Mass Cards-There is a blue basket in the back of the Church near the Infant of Prague. Please put your Mass Attendance Cards in the basket.

Registration forms the 2017-18 school year can be found in the vestibule file holder. Cost is $20 per students (K-6). Forms may be dropped in the offertory basket.

Back to School Supplies are being accepted for parish families. Donations of backpacks, pens, pencils, erasers, paper, etc. can be dropped office or dropped in the boxes in church. Families that would like items are asked to call the parish office.

Food Collection: St. Mary’s is continuing to collect non-perishable food items our local families in need. Can goods (veggies, soup, fruit), peanut butter & jelly, mac & cheese, pasta, pasta sauce, crackers, granola, cereal, etc. Thank you!

Bazaar Wrap-up: Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make our annual bazaar a great social event and a successful fundraiser. Special thanks to our chair stands and to our sponsors! Next year’s bazaar will be held on June 23 & 24. The next meeting will be held after the New Year. This year’s profit: $ 31,698.19.

The Knights of Columbus are looking for men who would like to join their mission. The Order is dedicated to the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. Please call John for more information 516-241-5297.

Youth Group: The first meeting of the year will be held on Sunday, September 10, from 6-8 p. m. Dinner will be provided. All students in seventh grade and older are encouraged to attend.

The next Bingo will be held on Sunday, September 24, at 1 PM, in the social hall. $20 -20 games, all paper. Specials. The kitchen will be open. Prizes will include a variety of purses, Vera Bradley, and Polish Pottery. Proceeds benefit Saint Mary’s Youth Ministry Program.

The Miracle of Christmas -Currently there are no seats remaining for The Miracle of Christmas show at the Sight and Sound Theatre in Lancaster, PA, on Tuesday, November 14. To be added to the waiting list please call Julia 379-3034. Reminder: final payment is due by October 15.

Our Lady of Fatima 100th Anniversary-Our Lady of Fatima Grotto, North St., Wilkes-Barre, honors the 100th Anniversary of Our Lady’s Appearance at Fatima on Sunday, September 10, 2017. Opening prayer is at 5 p. m. at Chapel of Christ the King, Jackson & Franklin Streets. Procession to Our Lady of Family begins at 5:30 p. m. There will be a speaker, refreshments, and 15 Decade Rosary at the Grotto.

Temporary Liturgy Schedule-Due to the final stages of construction of the new church, the following temporary, Saturday and Sunday Masses at St. Jude will be in the gym.

There will be one daily Mass at St. Mary with a St. Jude intention and a St. Mary intention.

All funerals, weddings, baptisms will be celebrated at St. Mary Church during this time

Sacrament of Reconciliation will be held at 4:30 p. m. at St. Mary’s or by appointment. While we have Mass in the gym there will not be 3 p. m. confessions at St. Jude

Weekend Masses will remain the same times with the St. Jude masses to be celebrated in the gym.

Entrance to St. Jude gym will be through both school entrances with handicap parking and entrance in the rear.

St. Jude Adoration chapel will be closed until new church is dedicated. Adorers are asked to sign up for times on the new chart in the present chapel.

Extraordinary ministers of communion for weekday visits will go to St. Mary for the Eucharist.

Extraordinary ministers of communion for Sunday visits will receive Eucharist after or before Masses in the gym.

Gift Cards can be picked up or purchased at the table in the hallway outside the main entrance to the gym as usual around the Sunday Masses

Office Hours: The parish office will be closed August 30. Please call 474-6315, ext. 221 and Lori will be happy to assist you with immediate needs. The office will be open Thu-Fri, Aug 31 and Sep 1. The office will closed Monday, Sept. 4, in honor of Labor Day.
