Two of Wyoming Seminary’s most accomplished Mock Trial team members travel to Newport Beach, Calif. This month to compete in the Third Annual Gladiator 2017 One-on-One Mock Trial Tournament.

Paige Allen of Mountain Top, a 2017 Sem graduate, and Meghna Melkote of Moosic, a rising senior, will join about 25 other champion Mock Trial competitors from throughout the United States and the world to strive to win the coveted title of Best in the World.

Each participant competes one-on-one against every other participant and goes through four rounds, acting as prosecutor, defense attorney, prosecution witness and defense witness. The two contestants with the best scores after four rounds compete in the fifth round for the title. This year’s fictional case, titled “United States vs. Parker Osborn,” features a Russian foreign agent who is caught in possession of U. S. Defense Dept. classified information and is on trial for espionage.

Adam Carlisle, Sem Mock Trial teacher-coach, also has been recognized as a 2017 Gladiator Ambassador.
