NORTH EAST PA MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOC. HOLDS ANNE LIVA COMPETITION-The NEPMTA recently held their Anne Liva Competition and Rewards Recital at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, Scranton, Pa. as announced by Chairman Michael J. Popick, co-chairsAndrea Bogusko and Pamela Carroll. The competition was held Saturday, June 3rd with Dr. Donald Boomgaarden, Dr. Rebecca Geoffroy Schwinden, and Mr. John Zinsky serving as adjudicators. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, receiving cash awards and performing at the Finale Performance Recital on Sunday, June 4 were chosen from Grades 5 and 6, 7 and 8, 9 and 10, and 11 and 12. Each pianist performed two memorized pieces at the competition. Recitalists performed one memorized piece which included works by Handel, Mozart, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Schubert, Debussy, Ravel, and Granados.
