Helen (Babe) Zorko –Solinski, Askam, 90, died May 22, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Askam, Hanover Twp., on May 28, 1926, she was the daughter of Anna and Joseph Zorko. She was a graduate of Hanover Area High School and retired from American Cigar, Mountain Top. She was a life member of St. John’s Russian Orthodox Church, Front Street, Hanover section, Nanticoke.

Babe was loved by all of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She looked forward to spending quality time with all of them and spoiling them with her delicious, homemade poppy seed and nut rolls. She was always willing to lend a hand and available to help everyone. Her kind heart and unselfish ways were cherished by all. She will be greatly missed, but her stories, recipes and love will live on through her family.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Kremenic and Dorothy Zorko O’Connor; her brother, Joseph Sitty; nieces, Sandy Hart and Mary Ann Kremenic; great-niece, Lauren Readler, and husband, Harold.

Helen is survived by her loving nieces, Nancy Cunard, Karen Cunard, wife of Eugene, all of Askam; Denise O’Connor Manosky, wife of Mark, Mountain Top; Melissa O’Connor Smith, wife of Gary, Nanticoke; Lisa O’Connor Moughan, wife of Christopher, Hellertown; nephews, George Kremenic, husband of Annie, John Kremenic Jr., Michael Kremenic, husband of Myra, all of Askam; Brian Hart, Nanticoke; William O’Connor, husband of Lynn, Hunlock Creek; Mark O’Connor, and companion, Lesley Butczynski, Nanticoke; and by numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Funeral services were held from Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home Inc., Nanticoke. Mass was celebrated at St. John’s Russian Orthodox Church, Nanticoke. Parastas was held with the Very Rev. Pastor Traian Stafiuc.
