Emmanuel UCC adopted Alberdeen Road as a service project back in November 1993. Over the years, many of our members have given their time to pick up an amazing assortment of cast-off items. Whatever they might find, our members have continued to walk the length of Alberdeen Road so that we will fulfill our obligation, not just to the Adopt-a-Highway program, but also to our Lord.
The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it (Psalm 24:1). In other words, God owns it all, no matter what any of our deeds might say. And it is our responsibility as children of God to protect our Father’s property from misuse and abuse. We all marvel at the beauty of nature, especially during Spring when everything turns green and lush. Perhaps we are really hoping that all that green will hide the trash outside our car windows as we cruise down the road. But there is a better way. We could stop trashing God’s world. Of course, that would mean that we would not have an Adopt-a-Highway service project, but it would also mean that we would have an opportunity to find another service project. I wonder what else we could get into? Well, until that time, we will continue to care for the Alberdeen Road.
As we have before, we will meet on May 7th at 12:30 to clean up a small portion of our Father’s property. Come out and feel the satisfaction that working for God can give you.
Sunday worship service is at 10:30 am and is led by Pastor Lou Aita. We welcome visitors and friends to join us for worship.
