Benjamin R. Bona, 87, Mountain Top, died April 23, 2017, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp.

Ben was born April 18, 1930, in Wilkes-Barre, the son of the late Benjamin and Mary (Mame) O’Connell Bona. He was a graduate of Hanover Twp. High School and Wilkes College.

He was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.

Ben was employed by the Social Security Administration and the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare, retiring in 2008.

Ben was a member and elder of the Mountain Top Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Marilyn Templeton Bona, in 2008.

Surviving are his daughters, Marilyn Boylan and her fiancé, James Pinnell, Hanover Twp.; and Mary Beth Bona, Hanover Twp.; niece, Cynthia Bogino and her husband, Charles; great-niece, Eva Bogino; and several cousins, including Jane Gentile.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, with interment to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.
