Aaron Parrish of Hobbie Landscape, LLC will discuss the practices for caring for your own landscaping and explore some of the myths to having a beautiful yard and garden. Topics to be covered will include fertilizers and weed preventive to add to the yard and garden, how much mulch should be applied and how often. Learn about alternatives to mulch in planting beds and when to prune or cut back plants. Suggestions for creating year round color with planting materials will be discussed. The program will take place at the MS Kirby Library located at 35 Kirby Ave., on Wednesday, May 3 at 6 p. m. Registration may be done by visiting the library or by calling 570-474-9313.

The American Legion Post 781 Mountaintop is sponsoring Spaghetti Dinner, May 6, from 4-7:30p.m., at the post home 1550 Henry Drive, Mountaintop. Dine in or take out. The meal includes Spaghetti, homemade meatballs, salad, bread, dessert, and beverage. Cost for the dinner is $10 age 12-adult, $ 5 children 6-11, children 5 and under are free.

St. Mary’s Youth Group will hold a Vera Bradley/Designer Handbag Bingo in the social hall on Sunday, May 7. Doors open at noon, games start at 1 p. m. This is an all paper Bingo, $20 -20 games. There will be three “special games” and door prizes. The kitchen will be open. Proceeds from this BINGO will be used for this summer’s parish mission trips. The Hobbie Volunteer Fire Company, 655 East County Road, Wapwallopen, will hold a Breakfast Buffet on Sunday, May 7, 2017. Serving will be from 8 a. m. to 12 noon. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-12, and 5 and under are free.
