ST. JUDE STUDENTS CONTINUE LENTEN TRADITION OF ALMSGIVING-Along with prayer and fasting, almsgiving is an important tradition during the Lenten season. Almsgiving includes works of charity such as donating food, money, or other goods to people in need. The students at St. Jude School collected $288.36 for the Missionary Childhood Association through their Helping Hearts project. Students purchased red tissue paper squares to glue on their class heart. Fourth grade collected the highest total, followed by fifth grade and third grade. The MCA is designed to encourage young Catholics to answer their baptismal call to be missionaries by their prayers, personal sacrifices, acts of service, and financial gifts to this division of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. Shown displaying some of the completed hearts, in front, are Carson Carlo and Cady Erwine. Back: Evelyn Bassett, Matthew Mascarenhas, George Sabatini, and Avery Chepolis.
