Hoops For Hope To Benefit American Cancer Society

Teachers, students, coaches, and other members of the Mountain Top community will take the basketball court on Thursday, March 9th, to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. This year’s competition will feature a new bracket format, giving each team a guarantee of two games.

The event will take place at Crestwood High School in Mountain Top. Doors open at 5:15 p. m. and games will begin at 6:00 p. m. At the conclusion of the games, names will be pulled to cover a teacher in silly string.

Tickets will be available at the door AND in advance. Admission charge is $4 for adults and $2 for students/senior citizens. Presale tickets, along with other items, are on sale in the Crestwood High School lobby from 10:30am to 12:30pm.

Teams expected to compete in this year’s event are: Crestwood Juniors, Crestwood Seniors (2014 & 2015 Champions), High School/ Middie School teachers, Elementary teachers, Local Law Enforcement officials, and Mountain Top Youth Basketball League (MYBL) coaches and referees (2016 Champions).

During the games, Mountain Top’s Relay for Life team will have tables selling various items in the cafeteria. Refreshments will also be available for purchase. Students are reminded to sign in if their teacher is offering extra credit for attending.

After an intermission of foul shots and three-pointers for prizes, games will continue for first place. The community is invited to take part in an effort to end the battle with cancer. Past events have raised thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society.
