The following board appointments were also approved: Police, Personnel and Planning & Zoning-Thomas; Roadmaster, Recycling and Pensions-Pipech; and Fire Departments, Recreation, Mountain Top Regional Police, and Mountaintop Area Joint Sanitary Authority-Rick Arnold.
At the board’s regular meeting that followed the reorganization, the supervisors ratified special resolutions supporting a special request for the application of the $85,415 Local Share Account grant towards the retrofitting of the Ice Lakes dam and a request for a new Local Share Account grant of $33,939 to cover the additional cost of repairing the dam.
The board also adopted an amended lease agreement with the Ice House Pub regarding the former Rice Twp. Vol. Fire Dept. parking lot in which the Pub will contribute $30 per month to the recreation fund.
During the month of December, the Rice Twp. Police Dept. responded to 171 incidents that included 101 complains, four accidents, eight traffic citations, eight parking tickets, and three criminal arrests.
Chief Franks noted in 2016, there were 2,818 incidents, 1,628 complaints, 46 accidents, 233 traffic citations, 51 non-traffic citations, and 39 criminal arrests.
