Crestwood Icemen Continue To Win

Crestwood’s Comets improved their record 5-1-1 when they defeated the Hazleton Hammerheads 7-3.

Austin Kofluk turned back 34 shots on net in the loss.

Patrick Croake was in the net for the Comets’ Victory. Crestwood’s Sky Swavley combined with T. J. Kulak to score the opening goal, less than 1 minute into play.

Kyle and Kevin Frisbie combined to earn 4 points in the game. Matt Lacoste was credited with a goal and an assist. Reed Karaska, Shane Angle & Jared McCune also scored for the Comets.

The Comets Blue Liners Josh Edwards, Shane Angle, Tyler Govan & John VanFossen combined to limit the Hazleton Hammerheads team to 17 shots on goal.

Crestwood’s ice hockey team will begin play in the Holiday Tournament next week hoping to defend last year’s title by defeating Wyoming Area. Crestwood and Wyoming Area are hoping to meet again this year in the finals.

Crestwood defeated Pittston Area 8-0.

Patrick Croak and Charles Helmbold of the Comets combined in goal for the shut-out. The Comets scored 3 goals in the 1st period & 5 goals in the second period.

Joe Stella, Pittston Area’s Goalie, turned back 32 shots on net.

Comet players to register a goal in the contest were: Tyler Govan, Shane Angle (2 goals), T. J. Kulak, Jared McCune, Jake Maher, Matt Dopp and Josh Edwards.

The Comets defeated the Back Mountain team 7-3 on December 4. Daymond Kovaly turned back 34 of 41 shots on goal. The Comets limited the Back Mountain team to 16 shots on goal.

Back Mountain’s goals were all scored on the power play. McCune had a hat trick for the Comets. Others hitting the net for the Comets were: Kyle Frisbie, Shane Angle, Dopp and Govan.
