Francine (McGuire) Swerdon Homemaker
Francine (McGuire) Swerdon, of White Haven, died on Dec. 17,

2016, at Celtic Hospice Geisinger, South Wilkes-Barre, following a courageous battle with cancer.

A daughter to the late Eileen (Igoe) and Edward McGuire, she was born at the Mercy Hospital on May 17, 1944. After graduating from St. Mary’s, she went on to work at the Mercy Hospital in the cardiology department.

She moved to White Haven after marrying her husband, George, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage this past June. A consummate mother and homemaker, Francine was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family as well as gardening and traveling with her husband, (especially to the beaches of Southern Maine). She spent several summers in Lake Placid, N. Y., volunteering as a house mother for figure skaters at the Olympic Training Center, an experience she truly enjoyed.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, Eileen, of White Haven, Susan and her husband, James Yurick, of Sugarloaf, and Mary and her longtime companion, Robert, of Shavertown; grandchildren, Dylan, of White Haven, Hunter, JJ and Tori, of Sugarloaf; brother, Edward, of Penn Lake; sister, Anne Marie, of Buffalo, Wyo.; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews around the world.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Lois.

Memorial services were celebrated in St. Patrick’s Church, White Haven.
