St. Paul’s Lutheran Church announces Sunday services at 8:30 and 11 a. m. Sunday Church School begins at 9:30. Communion will be offered November 20. Office Hours are 8:30 a. m. to 12:30 p. m.
Angel Tree-Once again, Catholic Social Services is asking that we help make Christmas a little brighter for families in need.
The cards with the children’s wishes will be available starting on November 22nd. These are only suggestions, you don’t have to buy all the items on the card. Please remember the gifts should be in the range of $25.00, and should be returned with the card and UNWRAPPED in a bag. Store bags are fine. The gifts need to be returned by December 6th.
Free Movie Night will feature Woodlawn on Monday, November 28. In 1973, a spiritual awakening captures the hearts of the Woodlawn High School Football team. Lead by their coach, Tandy Geralds, and fueled by the team’s dedication to love and unity in a school filled with racism and hate, the team makes an astounding run at the playoffs, leading to the largest high school football game ever played in the torn city of Birmingham, Alabama, and the rise of its first African American superstar -Tony Nathan.
Every third Wednesday, at 1:00 p. m. at the church will be Board Game Day. Please bring your favorite game and a snack to share. Come on out and have some fun. Next game day scheduled November 16th.
WELCA’s next meeting will be on Wednesday, November 9th at 1 p. m. at the church. The hostess will be Jeanne Wells. We will be discussing Christmas plans. The ladies have agreed to purchase gifts this Christmas for the mothers of families adopted by the Scranton Wilkes Barre Mission District through the Susquehanna Initiative
Food Bank-Please remember that the first Sunday of each month has been declared “Food Bank Day” and we ask that members remember those less fortunate by bringing nonperishable food items in order to keep up with the demand for food. Items currently needed are: Peanut Butter, jelly, popcorn, pork & beans, canned tomatoes, canned soup, canned fruit, mayonnaise, tuna, macaroni & cheese, pasta, corn, peas, canned pasta, and green beans, spaghetti, cake mixes, pancake mix, and toothpaste and toothbrushes and ketchup and mustard.
Feed-A-Friend Volunteers Needed-It is time once again for Feed-A-Friend to seek volunteers to help with the sorting, packing and handing out of Thanksgiving baskets to needy area residents. This year we are seeking volunteers of all ages to help sort food on Saturday, November 19th from 10 am-1 pm and distribution is Tuesday, November 22nd 9 am-1 pm to help carry turkeys and bags to cars. St. Paul’s Hoagie Gang-Sign up for delicious hoagies! Watch for the sign-up sheet on the narthex bulletin board. All orders must be in by the previous Sunday, The cost of the hoagies is $4 each. The sign-up sheet is on the narthex bulletin board.
Yarn Spinners will work on lap robes for St. Luke’s Manor in Hazleton until December. If you need any yarn, please let Lois know If any of you are talented in crocheting or knitting, or would like to learn, please call Lois (474-5502), and volunteer your talents by making the items at your own pace at home.
