St. Mary’s of Dorrance is a welcoming church. The pastor of St. Mary’s is Reverend Joseph Evanko, and Rev. Jeffrey Tudgay, Reverend Assistant Pastor. The weekend Mass schedule is Saturday at 5:30 p. m. and Sunday at 9 a. m.
Religious Education Classes for K through 6th grade begin at 9:50 a. m. immediately following Mass on Sundays and end at 11 a. m. Students go directly to their classrooms.
Classes for 8th grade students Either Sunday, November 20 or Monday, November 21. Attend on your scheduled day.
Parents: Confirmation candidates will have homework every week and need to have their Mass attendance cards signed. If you have any questions pleases call Mrs. Urbanski 474-6315 ext 228.
Christmas Eve Family Mass-Students are invited to participate in the Christmas Eve program before 4 p. m. Mass. To sign up please return the sheet in last week’s Family Envelope or call the parish office.
Hazardous Weather Conditions-In the event that Crestwood closes or delays school due to inclement weather daily Mass will be cancelled. On Sundays, families will receive a phone call if classes are cancelled. Please be advised that safety is always our first priority. If your roads are bad and classes have not been cancelled please keep your children safe and miss class if necessary. You can call your child’s teacher to get the class assignment.
Your are invited to attend an “Annual Appeal Mass of Thanksgiving at Saint Peter’s Cathedral, Scranton, on Sunday, November 20 at 10 a. m.
Spaghetti Supper to Support Seminarians-St. Mary’s parish is hosting a Spaghetti Supper on Saturday, November 19 from 4-8 p. m. in the social hall. All proceeds from this event will be given to Kevin Miller, Ryan Glenn, and Jonathan Kuhar our local seminarians. Cost of the meal is $10 per person. Take out will be available. Donations are being accepted for spaghetti, sauce, coffee, and desserts. For information or to volunteer call John 379-3721.
Gift Card Sales-Our parish sells Carone’s and Weis Markets gift cards. Use them same as cash. This is a very easy fundraiser for our parish. To order cards (denominations of $25, $50, and $100) call the office, or place your order in the offertory basket.
BackPack Meal Program-The CSD Elementary Schools BackPack Meal Program provides children who are in need with a bag of nutritious, easy to prepare food each Friday during the school year. The program fills the gap left when children do not have access to free or reduced priced school meals over the weekend. BackPack meals are distributed discretely and the participants are confidential. Items needed include small size portions of raisin, vegetables with pop top lids, peanut butter, tuna or chicken, mac & cheese, soup, cereal, granola or Chex/Trail mix. No glass please. Altar & Rosary Holiday Party-Altar & Rosary Society will celebrate their annual holiday party on November 20 at 1 p. m. at Sand Springs. There will be a short meeting after dinner. There will not be a meeting on Monday, November 21. If interested, call Julie for price and details at 570-379-3034.
Wafer Dinner-The Annual Wafer Dinner hosted by Saint Theresa’s Guild will be held on Sunday, December 11 at 6 p. m. The Guild will provide hors devours and beverages. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish for the meal. Please RSVP to the parish office by Sunday, December 4 to ensure we have enough plate settings.
Thanksgiving Raffle-All remaining Thanksgiving Raffle tickets have been mailed. Winner will be pulled Thanksgiving Day so please return your tickets by Nov 22 to be sure you are included in the drawing. Last year’s winner took home $1,430.
