Tillman C. W. Kleinsteuber, Ph. D., 82, Mountain Top, died Nov. 6, 2016, at his home.
He was born in Berlin, Germany, on July 16, 1934, a son of the late Werner and Eva Kleinsteuber.
Dr. Kleinsteuber attended elementary school in Berlin and gymnasium in Konstanz, Germany. He studied physics at universities in Freiburg and Hamburg, Germany, and he graduated from the University of Munich with a doctoral degree in physical chemistry.
Dr. Kleinsteuber worked two years postdoctoral at the Institute for Physical Chemistry at the University of Munich and for two years as a research associate and assistant professor at Amherst College. He joined the faculty at King’s College in 1965, where he taught physics and chaired the physics program, retiring in 1996.
He was a world traveler; his travels included such places as Antarctica, Nepal, India, Japan, Poland, Africa and his homeland of Germany.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Clemens Friedrich W. Kleinsteuber, and by a sister, Philine Martha Eva Kleinsteuber.
Surviving are his sister, Regine Soding and her husband, Paul, Berlin, Germany; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were private and have been entrusted to Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, Wilkes-Barre.
