The Wyoming Valley Conference District 2 Class 3A boys and girls soccer playoffs began this week.

The No. 7 Crestwood boys were scheduled to host No. 11 Honesdale in the first round on Monday, October 24. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals on Thursday, October 26 at No. 2 Tunkhannock.

The Crestwood boys lost to Wyoming Valley West by a score of 4 to 1 in a game played October 20.

Kyle Gegaris scored the Comets only goal at the end of the second half of play.

Adam Zabiegalski had 11 saves for Crestwood.

The No. 5 Crestwood girls were slated to play host to No. 12 Tunkhannock in the opening round on Tuesday, October 25. The winner of that game will advance to the quarterfinals on Thursday, October 27 at No. 4 Wallenpaupack.

No. 1 Crestwood will play in the District 2 Class 2A field hockey tournament semifinals on Thursday, October 27 against either No. 4 Coughlin or No, 5 Honesdale.

Crestwood defeated Wyoming Area, 4-1, in a game played October 17.

Lady Comets Makenzie Kile and Sarah Richards scored two goals apiece, one in each half of play, for the winners.

Against Wyoming Seminary on

October 20, the Lady Comets fell, 3-1.

Sem started the scoring first with two goals in the first half.

Crestwood’s Jaclyn Cavanaugh scored in the second half at the 16:02 mark but Sem tallied another goal with four minutes remaining to seal the win.

Sem out shot Crestwood, 12-5. Marlee Dillon had nine saves in the

loss.

The Crestwood girls’ volleyball team swept Tunkhannock in WVC District Class 3A in a match played on October 18. Scores were 25-16, 25-13 and 25-21.

Ally Olzsyk led the Lady Comets with 11 service points, four aces and seven assists followed by Maria Ellis who finished with eight service points and five aces. Natasha Geisler chipped in with three kills and three service points.

On October 22, the Crestwood girls defeated host MMI , 3-0. Scores were 25-19, 25-20, and 25-14,

Gabby Kupsho led the Lady Comets with two kills, six digs and 10 service points. Lauren Banyas chipped in with two kills, 15 assists, two digs, four service points and two aces.
