Crestwood fans had little to cheer about last week when their Comets took on the Spartans of Wyoming Valley West. Four Crestwood turnovers were instrumental in the Comets 47-0 loss last Friday evening in Kingston.
Valley West scored two touchdowns in the first quarter, the first on a 54-yard run by Aaron Austin and the second on a 4-yard jaunt by Sean Judge to open up a 14-0 lead. The Comets didn’t fare any better in the second quarter as the Spartans tacked on two more TDs by Judge who scored on a 55-yard catch and run and a 22-yard pass completion. Chris Melovitz cross the goal line from one yard out and Zach Davies took the ball in from the three. The half ended with host Valley West in control with a 41-0 lead.
Crestwood battled to a scoreless third quarter but the Spartans came back in the final stanza to score their final touchdown on a 6-yard run by Sean Mikovitch.
Crestwood finished the game with a total of 183 yards compared to 393 for Valley West.
Lance Blass was the leading rusher for Crestwood with 33 yards followed by Pat Rother with five carries for 30 yards while Nick Grosek had six carries for 24 yards. David Wint rushed for 19 yards on three carries, Liam Stone carried six times for 18 yards, and Mike Macri had six carries for 13 yards.
Rother had one reception for 15 yards and Macri caught a pass for 11.
Crestwood (3-6) will travel to Hazleton Area for a game on Friday, October 28.
