St. Mary’s of Dorrance is a welcoming church. The pastor of St. Mary’s is Rev. Joseph Evanko, and Rev. Jeffrey Tudgay, Assistant Pastor. The weekend Masses are Saturday at 5:30 p. m. and Sunday at 9 a. m.
Religious Education-Classes for K -6th grade begin at 9:50 a. m. immediately following Mass on Sundays and end at 11 a. m. Students go directly to their classrooms. There are registration forms in the file holder in the vestibule of the Church. Forms may be brought to the office, dropped in the offertory basket, or mailed to the office.
Religious Education Fundraisers-Students are selling Gertrude Hawk Chocolates and Candle Creek Candles. Pre-paid orders are due back by November 13.
Classes for 7th grade begin Sunday, October 16 or Monday, October 17. Attend on your scheduled day.
Any families that missed the parent/student meeting should call Mrs. Urbanski to get information on class schedule and parking lot procedure. 474-6315 ext 228.
Altar Server Classes will begin soon. Any student in third grade and older is invited to serve at the Table of the Lord. Call the office to register. Families choose the Sat or Sun schedule.
The Outdoor Rosary will be prayed at the Blessed Mother statue in front of the Church on Friday, October 7 at 6:30 p. m. The Altar & Rosary Society invites everyone to join them for refreshments afterwards in the meeting room.
BackPack Meal Program-The CSD Elementary Schools BackPack Meal Program provides children who are in need with a bag of nutritious, easy to prepare food each Friday during the school year. The program fills the gap left when children do not have access to free or reduced priced school meals over the weekend. BackPack meals are distributed discretely and the participants are confidential. Items needed include small size portions of raisin, vegetables with pop top lids, peanut butter, tuna or chicken, mac & cheese, soup, cereal, granola or Chex/Trail mix. No glass please. Medical Equipment-St. Mary’s has a supply of walkers, bedside commodes, shower chairs, and crutches for loan (or give them) to people in need. Please all the parish office if you would like to see what inventory is available. You do not need to be a parishioner to participate.
Trunk or Treat-St. Mary’s Community Outreach Committee is again sponsoring a tailgate Trunk or Treat! Families are invited to trick or treat on Halloween Eve, Sunday, Oct 30. Time: TBA. The event will be in the church parking (grove side).
Youth Group will meet on Sunday, Oct. 30 from 5:30-8:30 p. m. We will enjoy Pizza and wings for the meeting then we will join the Trunk or Treat. Members will have an opportunity to pass out candy and trick or treat. The meeting will be held in the dining room. Contact Molly if you will be attending.
The community is invited to gather cars in the parking lot, pop open their trunks, and hand out candy to kids roaming the safe pop-up community. To register your vehicle please call Wende 570-760-3167.
Chili Sale-The Altar & Rosary Society is taking orders for chili! Pickup will be Oct. 22 & 23 after all Masses in the social hall. Price is $8/ quart. Prepaid orders can be placed in the offertory basket. Make checks payable to Altar & Rosary Society.
Donations are being accepted to help defray cost. Items needed: red chili beans, onions, bell peppers, tomato sauce, and stewed tomatoes. Items are needed in the social hall kitchen by October 16.
