Crestwood (5-0-1) edged Hazleton Area 2-1 in a field hockey game on September 26. The Lady Comets moved into first place in the Wyoming Valley Conference Division I.

Jordan Olenginski lifted the Lady Comets to victory as she scored the winning goal with 11 minutes to play in the first half of a pass from Arden Morgans.

Mackenzie Kile scored Crestwood’s first goal of the game at 3:29 in the opening half.


In volleyball, the Crestwood girls defeated Meyers, 3-0, in a match played September 27. Scores were 25-17, 20-8 and 26-18.

Ally Olzsyk led the Lady Comets with 16 assists and 17 service points that included nine aces.

Kristen Kania finished with 14 service points, while Maria Ellis had eight aces. Emily VanFossen had four aces on eight service points.

On September 29, Crestwood defeated Hazleton Area, 3-0. Scores were 25-20, 25-17 and 25-20.Olzsyk finished with 16 assists and six service points followed by Maria Ellis who contributed with 11 service points, seven acres, and eight digs.

Kania chipped in with 18 service points and four aces.
