A VIRTUS training session is scheduled on Sunday, September 25atSt. Jude’sSchool from3p. m. until 6 p. m. Call the school office at 570-474-5803 to register. VIRTUS: Protecting God’s Children for Adults Program is a mandatory 3-hour training session for all employees and adult volunteers (18+) who work with or have direct contact or routine interaction with children in the Diocese of Scranton. This training focuses on ways to make and maintain a safe environment for all children. This class is mandatory for all religious education catechists, aides and substitutes, as well as volunteers and chaperones.
Religious education classes for eighth grade students begin Sunday, September 25 or Monday, September
26. Classes for seventh grade students begin Sunday, October 16 or Monday, October 17. Students will not be able to start classes until they are registered. Questions about these two classes may be directed to Pam Urbanski at the Parish Office.
A meeting for students who will attend seventh grade religious education and one of their parents will be held on Thursday, September 22 from 6:30 p. m. until 8 p. m. in the school cafeteria for those who did not attend the meeting on September
20. No registration is necessary. The entire seventh grade program will be discussed.
The children’s choir will practice on Tuesdays in the church from 4:30 p. m. until 5:15 p. m. All children in third through seventh grade are welcome to attend.
The St. Jude High School Youth group will meet on Sunday, October 2 from 6 p. m. until 8 p. m. in the school cafeteria.
St. Mary’s in Dorrance Youth Group will hold a Bingo in the social hall on Sunday, October 2. Prizes include Vera Bradley items, designer handbags, and Polish pottery. Doors open at noon. Games start at 1 p. m. This is an all paper bingo, $20 for 20 games. There will be two specials, a winner takes all cash coverall, and door prizes. The kitchen will be open. Proceeds from the bingo will be used for next summer’s parish mission trips. For more info call 570-868-5885.
The Little Lambs program is back. This is for our littlest parishioners from birth to school age and moms. Preschool story and play group will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 a. m. until 10:30 a. m. Sessions begin Monday, October 3. The Young Family Life and religious education programs are looking for seventh through twelfth grade students to volunteer and help others.
