Cub Scout Pack 60 at St. Jude Parish invites boys in first through fifth grades to join for a year of fun, learning, and family oriented activities.
The Cub Scout program is an excellent way for young boys to grow in character, citizenship, fitness, leadership, and outdoor skills. Registration will be held between 6 p. m. and 7 p. m. on Wednesday, August 31 in the hallway near the entrance of St. Jude School. New boys and parents should plan to attend Pack’s 60’s “Rocket into Scouting” meeting on Wednesday, September 14 at 6:30 p. m. in the St. Jude School, art room. interested in becoming a Catholic, please attend an inquiry session for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) in the St. Jude School library on Sunday, September 11 at 1:30 p. m. Formation sessions for RCIA will begin on Sunday, September 18 and will continue weekly through the celebration of Easter. Religious Education is looking for a few teachers. We are in need of substitutes for the 2016-2017 school year. Substitutes must have all clearances and be willing to be added to our list for when catechists are unable to attend. Our catechists work so hard throughout the year. Registration is underway for students who are in 7th and 8th grade and wish to take part in Religious Education classes in preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Parents may register their children by going to the parish website at www.stjc.organd clicking on Education, Religious Education, and then Register now. Students will not be able to start classes until they are registered. Questions about Confirmation may be directed to Pam Urbanski at the Parish Office.
The Youth Ministry is planning a new fundraiser. Vouchers from the Old Post Farms will be sold to help raise money for the Youth Ministry events. The vouchers are $10 and can be used to purchase items such as a large variety of fall mums, pumpkins, straw, cornstalks, perennials, and more. The vouchers can be used at Old Post Farms from Saturday, September 3 until Sunday, October 2 when the selection is the nest. The Farms are located on St. Mary’s Road in Mountain Top and are open 7 days a week from 9 a. m. until 5 p. m. Vouchers may be purchased from the Parish Office during regular business hours or from a Youth Ministry member the weekends of September 11 and 18 after all Masses. Proceeds help sponsor retreats, March for Life, service opportunities, and teen nights.
