David J. Ebert

David J. Ebert, 59, Mountain Top, died August 15, 2016, at his residence.

Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Joseph and Dolores Ebert. He was educated in Wilkes-Barre schools and was a 1975 graduate of Bishop Hoban High School, where he was captain of the wrestling team and also played football.

David attained notoriety in bodybuilding receiving 13 overall titles culminating with his most prestigious title of Mr. USA, 1985. David was the owner and operator of Ebert’s Health and Fitness Center, Wilkes-Barre, and Chemseal Blacktop Maintenance of Northeastern Pennsylvania. He was a member of St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church, Mountain Top.

Surviving are his loving wife of 36 years, the former Sharon Keil, a son, Bryce and fiancée Dara, St. Petersburg, Fla.; his five canine companions; brothers, Christopher and wife, Sharon, Archbald; Joseph and wife, Tara, Wilkes-Barre; sisters, Gloria Hockenbury and husband, Bill, Bonnie Percevalut and husband Joe, both of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held from Desiderio Funeral Home Inc., 436 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church, Mountain Top.
